Frasers Property Industrial and Frasers Property Australia have ranked strongly in the 2021 GRESB results - which assess and benchmark the ESG performance of real estate assets worldwide and monitor progress towards global sustainability goals.
Frasers Property Industrial has secured lead position across two sectors in the 2021 GRESB results, demonstrating its continued commitment to future-focused sustainable solutions.
Frasers Property Industrial’s Australian portfolio achieved the highest score globally for the Developer – Diversified (including industrial and commercial assets) sector, with a score of 95 from 100 and 5 Star rating for the entire portfolio.
It also secured the Overall Regional Sector Leader for its existing industrial portfolio, with a score of 91 and a 5 Star rating across the Australian portfolio.
In line with the GRESB achievements, Frasers Property Industrial has set three ambitious sustainability targets including attaining net zero carbon status in operation by end of FY30 ; achieving a GRESB score of 5 Star across its portfolio by FY24; and having all new projects to be certified using third party and relevant green building programs from FY21, with 80% of owned and managed assets to be certified by FY24.
Reini Otter, Chief Executive Officer for Frasers Property Industrial comments, “We believe in leading by example and this means committing to real environmental change and setting ambitious targets. To once again be recognised as a global leader in the GRESB rankings reinforces our position as a multi-national sustainability leader in the industrial and logistics sector.”
“Progressive development and management strategies enable our portfolio to perform sustainably and contribute to creating a greener future, as well as allowing our customers access to the long-term rewards that sustainable buildings and services produce.”
Frasers Property has previously topped GRESB rankings in the Global Non-listed Sector Leader – Diversified Office/Industrial for nine consecutive years. Due to the change in the company’s business structure, which saw Frasers Property Industrial split out as a separate arm of the company, Frasers Property Australia is now competing in the Office/Retail category for the first time.
Frasers Property Australia has maintained its position among the top performers in the latest GRESB rankings released today, placing second in the Non-Listed Diversified Developer category in Australia and fifth in the Non-listed Diversified Office/Retail category in Australia.
The company also retained the top GRESB rating of 5 Star which it has held since 2018.
In the 2021 GRESB Real Estate Assessment, Frasers Property Australia scored 93 out of 100 in the Development Assessment, compared to a peer average score of 78, and 89 out of 100 in the Standing Investment Assessment, compared to a peer average score of 86.
Nicholle Sparkes, General Manager Delivery & Operations, Frasers Property Australia says the company’s continued leadership in the GRESB rankings is a result of embedding sustainability at the heart of our operations.
“Our sustainability approach, from our carbon-reducing initiatives, use of green finance, increasing the resilience of our communities, responsibly sourcing services and materials, and using third-party certifications to benchmark our work, underpins our global leadership position,” Ms Sparkes says.
“GRESB is more and more competitive each year, so we’re very proud to maintain our 5 Star rating. It reinforces our position as a leading property group and is a testament to our ongoing commitment to enhance our environmental and social performance and deliver long-term value for our customers, investors and stakeholders.”
