One of Australia’s largest industrial trade tools retailers, Sydney Tools, is seeking to lease an estimated 80,000 square metres of industrial retail space across the country in the next five years.
Trade tool retailer Sydney Tools has put the call out for industrial lease space, with the company announcing plans to occupy a further 80,000 square metres across the country throughout the next five years.
Sydney Tools Director Jason Bey said Sydney tools was seeking to commit to leases of up to 10 years.
“As a tenant, we are a landlord’s dream, as we maintain a steady, stable cash flow which enables us to sign longer-term leases in growth areas," he said.
The privately owned company has grown its share of the trade tools market by stocking a wider and deeper range, which now spans more than 11,000 stock-keeping units, and favouring American, European and Japanese brands such as Milwaukee, Dewalt and Makita over cheaper Chinese-made brands.
Since the company was established in 2001, Sydney Tools has grown to incorporate 31 stores along the eastern seaboard in NSW, ACT, Queensland and Victoria.
Mr Bey said it planned to double its eastern seaboard footprint and expand into other states including Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia.
“We currently hold a footprint of approximately 60,000 square metres across all of our 31 stores nationally," he said.
"We’re currently seeking to lease another 80,000 square metres in growth areas,” he said.
Mr Bey said while sales in the company’s online business were growing rapidly, more than 94 per cent of the company's revenue was generated through their bricks and mortar retail outlets.
“You can say we’re a bright spot in a struggling retail economy,” he said.
“In the trade tools business, customers like to come into the store and see the product first hand.
"Australia, like the US, has a large ‘tradie’ market so we’re confident with our expansion plan.
"Supplying power tools to the industry is as important to our business as is the servicing and repair of tools to minimise down time."
