The completion of Phoenix Transport's facility in South West 1 Industrial Estate finalises one of Queensland’s most innovative industrial developments, according to part-owner Frasers Property Industrial.
The Frasers Property Industrial portion of South West 1 Industrial Estate in south-east Queensland has moved past its final stage of development with the completion of Phoenix Transport's new facility.
Initially tabled by Logan City Council to draw investment and jobs to the city, the project welcomed Frasers Property Industrial as a significant land holder and developer in 2013.
Frasers Property Industrial Northern Region General Manager Ian Barter labelled the estate as one of Queensland's "great success stories".
"We purchased an 8.9-hectare parcel of land in 2013 from Logan City Council and subsequently a further 4.4 hectares," he said.

"The vacant land was originally zoned for a high-tech business park.
"After several discussions with Logan City Council, they agreed to rezone the land to mixed-use, which proved to be an important catalyst for its success in attracting leading 3PL and manufacturing companies to the area.”
His sentiments were echoed by Frasers Property Industrial Queensland General Manager Troy Whalan, who said the estate was arguably one of the most advanced in the country.
“Logan City Council saw an opportunity to change some of its unusable wetlands into what is now a meticulously designed and developed industrial estate with health and wellbeing as a key driver," he said.
"We invested heavily in this area which is paying significant dividends for customers and stakeholders.
"Hundreds of employment opportunities have also been created for the area too.

“Logan is an ideal place to do business. Its strategic location between Queensland’s two biggest cities – Brisbane and the Gold Coast made the area the perfect destination to strengthen our industrial presence in the state.”
The Berrinba Wetlands, which neighbour South West 1 Industrial Estate, comprise approximately 80 hectares and feature 8.5 kms of running/walking tracks, basketball courts, electric BBQ and picnic areas, fitness equipment, children’s playgrounds, a birdwatching platform, an undercover interactive facility, and 100 nest boxes for birds, possums and sugar gliders.
Companies represented in the estate include National Tiles, PACCAR, GMK, Avery Dennison, Huhtamaki and Sigma Healthcare.
Logan City Council Mayor, Darren Power said the completion of the Phoenix Transport facility was reflective of the overall goal in developing the estate.
"The aim of developing the South West 1 Industrial Estate in Berrinba was to create a strong pipeline of high quality, market-ready industrial land that would attract investors and businesses to Logan from across the country," he said.
"The construction of Phoenix Transport’s latest facility is evidence of the success of this approach.”
Phoenix Transport’s 9,999 square metre custom-built facility will be used to service the company’s expanding client base across Australia, while also featuring proximity to the company’s current site in Berrinba.
Queensland State Manager Gavin McAnulty said the new facility would enable the company to create better operational efficiencies and open up more opportunities in third-party logistics.
"Our semi-trailer fleet is rapidly expanding and the new innovative technology in the warehouse will enable us to better service our growing customer base across Australia," he said.
"We also expect to save significant water and energy costs as a direct result of our 5 Star Green Star Design and As Built v1.1 rating.”
