JLL has reinforced its commitment to driving sustainable outcomes in the supply chain and logistics industry by recently partnering with uTenant as co platinum sponsors of the 60th Australian Supply Chain & Logistics Association Awards. The event recognises the achievements and innovation in the supply chain and logistics industry in Australia.
JLL and uTenant sponsored the Environmental Excellence Award on the night which was accepted by Holly White on behalf of Schneider Electric for their impressive work in driving to zero carbon emission and reducing plastic packaging throughout their business.
JLL Director for Supply Chain Australia & New Zealand, Bruce Myers said JLL was proud to have been associated with the awards and particularly the Environmental Excellence Award because a key focus for JLL is to assist businesses in translating sustainability ambitions into action.
JLL has a net-zero target for 2040.
Mr Myers said that as companies, particularly the European-based large multi-nationals, are increasingly demanding sustainable design features, JLL is committed to supporting clients to achieve their sustainability ambitions from design to construction to operation.
“During the design phase, our Australian ESG team work with our industrial occupier clients to adapt their global ESG policies and guidelines to local sustainability strategy and property requirements.
“We help clients translate overseas certification requirements to Australian equivalents. On the flipside, we work with developer and investor clients closely to ensure their designs can meet prospective occupiers’ unique sustainability requirements.
“After a facility commences operations, our ESG experts can support the landlords and occupiers alike to complete certification, and provide on-going auditing and continuous improvement.” Mr Myers said.
Sustainability is important to JLL because it facilitates the ability to drive climate action for sustainable real estate, create safe and healthy spaces for all people, and provide inclusive places that create equal opportunities for thriving communities.
According to JLL’s ‘Transition to net-zero’ report issued in October 2021, JLL has been on a sustainability journey for 15 years, delivering services to help clients with their sustainability agenda. JLL made its first global commitment to address its carbon footprint in 2011.
JLL’s net-zero target is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040 by eliminating carbon emissions across all areas of business activities. For JLL to achieve net-zero by 2040, their clients need to be on a decarbonization journey.
Helping clients achieve their climate goals is a key pillar of the JLL business strategy. By making significant investments in sustainability services and capabilities using the breadth and strength of the global platform to partner and collaborate with clients and suppliers on real estate carbon reduction and sustainability.
The report identifies that there is a strong and direct correlation between environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and the long-term health and success of JLL’s business.
JLL address this by putting into action a sustainability strategy which allows the delivery of transformative change. JLL’s commitment to continuously improve is reflected in ambitious sustainability targets, with a commitment to the highest standards of corporate governance and transparency.
