Lantrak acquires former speedway, paving the way for a new materials management and recycling facility.
The former world-renowned Archerfield Speedway has traded to national Material Management group Lantrak in an on-market campaign handled by CG Property Groups Michael Callow and Michael Richardson with Cushman and Wakefield’s Morgan Ruig and Matt Richards.
Lantrak, a leading national material re-use, land remediation, and plant hire group has secured the infill site which sits adjacent to the Archerfield Airport and is only 11km’s to the Brisbane CBD to service the increase in demand for material management driven by major developments taking place in Brisbane.
Moving over 10 million cubic metres of construction materials annually, Lantrak were immediately drawn to the site due to its infill location and favourable zoning that was in place allowing them to commence operations quickly.
The 6.4ha site on Colebard Street West in Acacia Ridge has operated as the Archerfield International Speedway for the past 44 years. Industry sources suggest the sale traded hands from a private ownership group for between $19,000,000 and $19,250,000.
The property was sold via an EOI process and CG Property Group director Michael Callow said “the campaign attracted a range of buyers from owner occupiers to developers and even other groups looking to continue the operations as a Speedway.”
Cushman and Wakefield Director Morgan Ruig added “the proximity to the CBD and key arterials served Lantrak’s purpose perfectly as it’s one of the last sites so close to the CBD with the correct zoning.”
Matt Richards of Cushman and Wakefield said “We received considerable interest from various buyers, but ultimately, the decision to sell to an owner-occupier was more appealing to the ownership group”
Brendan Gray, representative of Lantrak, expressed excitement about the acquisition, highlighting that the addition of this site will enhance Lantrak's strategic network to position themselves as market leaders in upcoming key infrastructure projects.
